Learn to Mountain Bike!
Kids of Mud is a Manitoba Cycling Association sanctioned Learn to Ride and Learn to Race program for kids 6 to 16 years of age. Riders will learn the basics of off-road cycling 2x a week with coached, skill-building rides. For those who are interested, there is also an opportunity to participate in a fun race series with other Kids of Mud club members from programs throughout the city.

Program Information
Learn to Ride/Race in this 10-week training program, coached by National Coaching Certification Program certified cycling coaches.
Participants receive a Technical Club Shirt (must be ordered at time of registration)
KOM club members receive 20% off regular priced accessories and apparel at Alter Ego Sports.
All KOM participants are full-fledged members of the Alter Ego Cycling Club and are welcome to participate in Club activities that are appropriate to their skill level.
Program Fees
$80 (KOM Program Fee) + $60 for MB non race license or $80 for MB race license 9-16 yo or $70 for 8 & under
In order to participate, you need to purchase an Alter Ego Sports KOM program Fee and a Manitoba Cycling Association license. If your child plans on participating in any of the sanctioned Manitoba Cycling Association races, please purchase the RACE license. There are a few OPEN races that do not require a race license.
Parents who wish to ride along with us will also need to purchase a Manitoba Cycling Association license (adult MB non-race $60) for insurance reasons.

Time & Location
Either Mon & Wed OR Tue & Thu from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Program begins in late April (depends on weather) and runs until the end of June. We ride in a variety of Winnipeg parks from Whittier to Kings & Birds Hill Park.
Registrants will have access to our full schedule via Team Snap.

Need to Bring
Bike in good working condition (download the bike checklist)
Helmet (Mandatory) - must be CSA, CSPC, Snell or ASTM approved.
Gloves to improve grip and protect your hands in the event of a fall.
Sunglasses or glasses with a clear lens to protect eyes.
Water in a cage mounted bottle or a hydration pack.

Nice to Bring
Spare tube, patch, pump and small tool kit
Food (Bars, gel, trail mix)
Personal First Aide Kit
Laminated ID card with Health #s and allergy/medical information, name & address
You ride leader will have many of these items, but it is good to get in the habit of bringing them when you go out riding.
